AT WHAT TEMPERATURE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE TOPPED-UP ? Above all else, when an hydraulic system needs to have water added to it (during commissioning or after being emptied for servicing, for example), it is essential to know the pressure that needs to be generated in the filled system...

EXERCISE : Consider the system below. It is a tower with an indirect cooling system.

Assuming that filling must be performed at 20°C, the pump is not running (if it was running without water in the system, it would soon destroy itself!).

With water at 20°C, and the mains pressure being, for example, 5 bar, should the system be filled to 0.5 bar, 1 bar, 3 bar or 5 bar?   What would the gauge P1 read after filling? ?

With the system full, what will be the pressure P2 measured at the lowest point in the system, next to the drain valve?  ?

What is the use of the device 1?
